name etymology;Crowstar was given the prefix 'crow' for several reasons, mostly due to her coarse black fur. She was larger than her littermates and naturally muscular, much like her namesake. Her warrior name, Crowflight, was given to her because of her ability to be agile and light on her feet despite her large size. The name was often said to be unusual- RiverClan cats use water-related names such as reed, trout, or splash frequently, and crows are not normally found on RiverClan territory. When she became the Clan leader, she adopted the suffix 'star' as all the leaders do, making her new name Crowstar.
religious outlook;Crowstar grew up with a tough kind of attitude. She's more of a fighter than a lover, making her rush into things before fully thinking them through. This, unfortunately, affects her relationship with StarClan. She believes in their existence, but only barely. In Crowstar's opinion, she has better things to do than worry about dead cats. She prefers to keep her eye on the prize- in this case, her Clan- and leave StarClan at the back of her mind. Because of this, the more StarClan-loving warriors aren't very fond of her, with good reason- she takes every chance she has to voice her opinion on her warrior ancestors.

appearance;Crowstar's appearance isn't very common among RiverClan cats, who are usually grey or brown furred to blend in with their surroundings. Her pelt is as black as midnight, save for a creamy white patch the size of her paw that sits in the center of her chest. Her fur is short but not smooth or soft. Many seasons of swimming, hunting, and fighting have made her coat rough and coarse to the touch, much like the other short-haired cats of RiverClan. Her eyes are a unique shade of green with an almost turquoise hue. By the inside corner of each eye, near her nose, she has two more small flecks of white in her fur, though these are barely recognizable, especially from a distance. Crowstar, as mentioned earlier, has a more heavyset frame than some of the other she-cats, but she is also more muscled. Her tail is short but thick, good for steering herself as she swims. Her legs are short but not stubby, and her paws are of average size considering her body mass. Crowstar is known for being able to tread lightly, whether running or swimming, and because of this is very agile in battle. She is not often recognized as physically attractive, but having a mate or kits never appealed to her in the first place, especially with her status as her Clan's leader.
personality;Crowstar, from the day she was born, has been a stubborn cat. She refuses to let others sway her decisions, and is steadfast in her thoughts and actions. Because of this, she rarely changes her mind, and attempting to persuade her of something is futile. She is hardy, strong willed, and determined. Crowstar doesn't let others win- it's not in her mental makeup. She pushes herself to the limit regularly, and despises showing signs of weakness. This makes her foolish at times, rushing into situations that she should have fully contemplated before entering. Crowstar is a good fighter, and agile in battle, as mentioned earlier. She has a strong spirit, and is a truly loyal warrior. She upholds the warrior code (despite her lack of belief in StarClan) and faithfully defends each rule it holds, making sure her Clan holds it in high regard. Because of this, she often criticizes ThunderClan for taking in rogues or kittypets, and takes advantage of any opportunity to point that out. Like most RiverClan cats, Crowstar is proud- of herself, her Clan, and her determination. Romantically, she has never found herself attracted to other cats, and prefers to keep to herself in this way. She was never a social butterfly as a young warrior, and even as a deputy preferred to keep to herself, though she will converse with others and even take part in patrols or hunting parties. Because of her everything-is-a-battle personality, many cats found it hard to befriend her when she was younger, and while she is looked up to as a great leader, it is the same to this day. Crowstar prefers it this way- she believes emotional attachment to be pointless. She has a die-hard attitude that will have her remembered long after she dies.

history;[/u]Kithood
Ravenfeather and Troutsplash were two very different warriors with two very different stories. Ravenfeather was a black tom with green eyes, born to a RiverClan mother from a ShadowClan father. He was a natural loner, and didn't like to converse with other cats too much. Troutsplash, on the other hand, was pure RiverClan. Her white pelt and fiesty personality managed to win the affections of Ravenfeather, and the two soon had kits.
Those kits would be Crowkit, Patchkit, and Darkkit. Crowkit was the largest of the kits, all black except for a white splash on her chest, and green eyes like her father. Patchkit was both black and white, with blue eyes like his mother. Darkkit was black, with blue eyes like her brother. Troutsplash was ecstatic to be a mother- but Ravenfeather wasn't so sure about parenthood, and didn't spend much time with his kits.
The kits grew up in a stable environment. Troutsplash had chosen to surrender warrior duties for a short while so she could nurse her kits, though she did go out on the occasional hunt or patrol while her kits slept. It was on one of these trips that she was cut deep in the shoulder during a skirmish with ShadowClan, not fatally, but still enough to leave a scar. She was in the medicine cat's den for a half-moon, and resting for another half, recovering from her injury. This was the kits' first encounter with a warrior's duty, and the risks of such dedication to the Clan. Crowkit was inspired by her mother's determination, and became obsessed with becoming a great warrior.
Apprenticeship
As an apprentice, Crowpaw was still larger and more muscular than her brother and sister. Patchpaw wasn't a very competitive cat, and didn't find himself challenging his sister often. Darkpaw, however, took after her mother in the way that she was feisty and wanted to be noticed. This often lead to arguments between the two, though they were rarely serious at first.
It was during one of these arguments that Crowpaw, naturally more physical than her sister, unsheathed her claws. Darkpaw took this as a challenge and did the same. The two began a brawl on the spot, near the rapids of RiverClan territory. Both were unafraid to use teeth and claws alike to injure each other. They would've eventually killed one another if had not Patchpaw found them and intervened. When he found his sisters, both were oozing blood from various bites and scratches, some that would lead to scars. The two were determined to keep fighting, and Patchpaw eventually had to step between them- resulting in their brother receiving a blow that sent him flying towards the rapids.
It was by chance that Patchpaw was able to snag his claws on the side of the ledge that overhung the fast-flowing water. Darkpaw immediately ran over to assist him, but Crowpaw was angry. She wanted to finish the battle, and hated her brother for getting between them. Darkpaw managed to help her brother scramble back up onto the ledge, while Crowpaw glared on.
A shaken Patchpaw was taken back to camp by Darkpaw, while Crowpaw slumped along behind them. When they reached the RiverClan camp, everyone was overflowing with questions. Why were the sisters covered in cuts? Why was Patchpaw shaking like a freezing mouse? And why was Crowpaw reluctant to talk?
Darkpaw, eager to describe the heroic saving of her brother, explained what had happened, adding that her sister had attacked her previous to the exciting events and she had no choice but to fight back, which would explain why they were both covered in blood. Crowpaw tried to voice her side of the story, that her sister was lying- but no one cared to hear. Patchpaw was taken to the medicine cat's den to rest, and Darkpaw was hailed as a hero, while Crowpaw was sentenced to camp confinement.
At long last, the sentence ended and Crowpaw, under the suspicious eyes of her Clanmates, was once allowed to resume apprentice duties. During this time, her brother and sister had become warriors- Darkcloud and Patchfur. This irritated Crowpaw even further, and her determination to become a great warrior rose. She pushed herself to the limit daily, strongly impressing her mentor Smokefoot, and finally was given her warrior name.
Warriorhood
A new warrior, Crowflight was still eyed with suspicion. Everyone remembered her deeds as an apprentice, especially the fight with Darkcloud that was never resolved. To this day, the two still don't get along well. There's more to it than just a skirmish as apprentices, though.
As the warriors matured, the current deputy grew ill. An older warrior and far along in his years, he was left with no choice but to renounce his deputy status and retire to the elder's den where he could be given the proper care for one his age. At this point, Crowflight had already mentored an apprentice- Patchfur's own kit- and was looking forward to mentoring another one. She was never a very social cat, but mentoring apprentices was one thing she did enjoy. She was able to pass on her knowledge to the future leaders of the Clan. How could she pass up the opportunity?
As the story goes, everyone was expecting Darkcloud to get the position as new deputy. She had mentored two apprentices, one of Patchpelt's kits and another RiverClan kit, and was still remembered for her deeds as an apprentice. Shortly before the deputy would officially resign, though, Darkcloud fell pregnant with kits she didn't mean to have. This sparked the Clan's curiosity- who was the mysterious tom that had won their Clanmate's heart? And now that she was pregnant, who would take the deputy's place?
To the shock of the Clan, Crowflight was chosen.
Deputyhood
The appointing of her sister as deputy infuriated Darkcloud, who at the same time hated herself for being foolish and having kits. She hated the mistake she had made, and stress from her ambitious fallout caused most of the kits to be born still. The sole surviving kit, a dark brown tom named Toadkit, died soon afterwords.
Crowflight made a good deputy. She organized patrols well, though the Clan leader often accused her of overworking herself. It was true- Crowflight felt it was her duty to work as hard as she could to earn her Clan's trust. And earn that trust she did. By the time the Clan leader had lost his ninth life, RiverClan was proud of the deputy they had raised from kithood. Crowflight was ready to be a leader.
She accepted the name Crowstar and her nine lives at the Moonpool the evening after the Clan leader's death. Each life was given by a cat she knew well, through firsthand experience or stories passed down generations. Leopardstar gave her a life for selflessness. Mistystar gave her a life for courage. Ravenfeather gave her a life for discipline. Troutsplash gave her a life for love. Toadkit gave her a life for strength. Smokefoot gave her a life for obedience. The Clan's former deputy gave her a life for leadership. Lastly, the Clan's former leader gave her a life for guidance. To this day, Crowstar is still a leader of RiverClan.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
